NEW BRAND FEATURE: TRACE COLLECTIVE
When you’re presented with images of a variety of clothing compiled from dreamy easy linen, you’d mostly associate it as being contrived in the sun-drenched lands of Byron Bay, Australia. Trace Collective, is a London-based brand, who despite being all-too familiar with cloudy skies, are being the controller behind rays of sunshine in the sustainable thread department, with their new label focused on sustainable design for both men and women.
Adaptable to any occasion, tailored, sophisticated yet simple enough for a Saturday morning stroll Trace have nailed the design to move past the ‘hessian sack’ linen comparison that all too many sustainable clothing non-converts throw at us. With feature buttons, Mandarin collars (standing collar), threaded wrap belts and tailored pants, it’s a collection set to please.
Trace aren’t about trends, but rather pave the way for their own aesthetic, yet are on trend with one of their business pillars of being transparent. Something our new Gen-Z demographic (well all people really) greatly appreciate. They keep it real with the ethical and mindful choices behind their natural materials and methods of creation; implementing a circular supply chain. This supply chain is underpinned by traceability of garments and creating pieces that have longevity and are timeless, aimed to be worn and cherished for years to come. With their silhouettes and designs, I’m sure this will be a given.
At a time when the whole world is seeming to advertise news of doom and gloom, it becomes more and more pressing that new brands who emerge are designing with having a positive environmental and social impact. Trace Collective is doing just that. Founders Antonia and Aroa wanted to create a brand that drove environmental regeneration in a full circular designed model.
So just what exactly about their product is fabulous and circular? Well they use organic and regenerative fabrics like hemp and linen, which are biodegradable. They are also disclosing every single step that the business has taken; from where the fabric has been grown to who has made the garment (something which is still quite rare to come across in the fashion industry).
Working with various emerging designers, with the purpose of elevating their craftsmanship, they have finally arrived at their first collection, designed by Clare Payne, and it is simply beautiful. As with any new brand, it’s tricky to get on your feet. Trace have launched a kickstarter campaign to help establish themselves, and as part of their campaign you have the opportunity to pre-order their first collection and simultaneously obtain up to 50% off.
We’ve included some of the gems we’re particular fond of, but you can check out the rest at: https://www.thetracecollective.com
