VAMFF 2020 RECAP
WORDS by Veronika Makovey-Carafa
Didn’t get the chance to come along to VAMFF, yet keen to get the low down on what went down? Well fear not, we were able to capture the best style style looks and glamour for you as well as the looks worth ear-marking which made the biggest impact at the event. The event didn’t disappoint in the few days it managed to run, as it abruptly came to an end with the first CO-VID state lockdown announcement, which confirmed the ‘realness’ and severity of the virus. Upon arrival there were dress-up photoshoot opportunities and a ferris wheel ready to whisk you above to catch a glimpse of the action from a different angle.
Even before taking a seat we could consume our fashion calories with the street style buffet from the likes of Vydia Rishie who was draped in neutral hues from Viktoria & Woods as was the glamour Brooke Hogan. Elle Ferguson who flaunted her pins with the perfect Bottega Veneta poppy blue heels, Mimi Elashiry, Lindy Rama-Ellis and Lauren Phillips. Georgia Love was the apple of our eyes in her green SWF dress before we got distracted with the glitzy Rozalia Russian and Brit Selwood who was a real life model in her Paolo Sebastian Cinderella dress.
The Iconic took the opportunity to launch their ‘conscious’ capsule stall to educate their customers on how they can now shop on the platform and find the sustainable fashion pieces they’ve long awaited. Whilst VISA had a where you shop matters photobooth, to open the dialogue about what we’re spending our pennies on and if that is affecting the planet positively.
So what were the highlights from the runway you ask? Why thank you for asking! The highlight was Bassike blazing the big guns in the form of their Motley Crew tie-dye cut-out batwing sweat and quilted doubled strap velcro sandal, which mark my words will both be EVERYWHERE in no time. They also chose BOYS by LIZZO as their track for the night which deserved some kudos. Oroton had a chic military style Burberry-esque show with lots of trenches and bucket hats. Arnsdorf showcased some delicate blues whilst Camilla and Marc turned heads with a stand out yellow maxi-dress now firmly etched into my mind. Speaking of which, the floral dreamy dresses were consistent across designers, with Romance was Born also delivering some floral dreamy numbers. Last but not least we were bedazzled with Paolo Sebastian’s beaded pieces cascading down the runway and will no doubt prompt some serious conversations about ‘dropping knee’.
But alas, enough with the words, feast on the images yourself and tell us what you think below.
