Outland Denim and Montana Lower Release “High Hopes”, A Limited-Edition Collaboration Collection

Australian brand Outland Denim, known for their revolutionary approach to sustainability (with the best social standards and the most environmentally sustainable methods available), have today announced a special limited edition capsule collection with Montana Lower, an Australian sustainability advocate, environmental engineer, and entrepreneur. The High Hopes capsule is an ode to what is good in the world-the beauty of humanity, hope for the future - for humanity, for our planet.


The capsule collection is made up of Montana’s favourite vintage denim silhouettes. Each denim piece is delivered alongside a set of original ‘High Hopes’ embroidered patches, designed to be fixed to the garment by its wearer for a bespoke finishing touch.


If you’re unfamiliar with Outland Denim, the brand was created by James Bartle who developed a passion to do something to assist victims of sexual exploitation to engage in safe, dignified employment so that they can rebuild their lives. Outland Denim support their staff by providing them with training, opportunity, living wages, health services and education. They have proven to create a sustainable career path to create lasting social change, both in the lives of their staff and their families and communities. The brand now has employed more than 750 people who have benefited from stable employment, each person known by name in the organisation, and some who started as teenagers who have grown up to have their own children and still remain within the business.

Montana Lower is an entrepreneur, environmental engineer, sustainability consultant, ambassador and mother. She is the founder of natural and sustainable skincare brand and self-love club, BLUEM and not-for-profit, Murals for Change; an art-based activism program raising awareness for worthy causes through art installations, online & community workshops. At 25, Montana has cultivated a global community of next generation conscious consumers and mindful mothers. Her mission is to inspire her 250,000+ strong community (and beyond!) to make small changes on the way to living a more meaningful, sustainable and fulfilling life; with authenticity, information and creativity at the forefront. Montana and her family have spent the last year slow travelling Australia in their off-grid bus, and have recently settled down in a cottage by the sea where they plan to build a self sustaining garden and run community workshops inspiring connection to the Earth.




Montana’s connection to Outland originated in 2017 when she was introduced to the brand as a model. In 2018, Montana took her skillset as an environmental engineer to Outland Denim’s Cambodia-based facilities and worked with the brand on environmental impact reducing projects including preliminary design of their sustainable Wash and Finishing facility.

Highlights of the 6-piece capsule include the 100% organic cotton chambray Talia overall, the crop-wide leg Mirage jean, and the Daydream Dungaree Dress. Each piece is made with 100% traceable organic cotton, zero harmful chemicals, 100% vegan materials and innovative water and energy saving technology.




When asked about the collection Montana comments that “by now I've been able to view Outland from every angle, first as a customer, then model, then engineer, to now designing a collection and they have blown me away at every turn.
